HAPPY 2016 FROM RJ KENNELS, QUAIL RUN RANCH
Dual Quality American Brittanys: Competition, Hunting & Companionship
In The Field ABOUT R J KENNELS - AKC BREEDERS OF MERIT
At the toe of the Sierra Foothills, the Mother Lode Country of Northern California, between Sacramento and Auburn, our Kennels are located on 20 acres of historic farmlands....now training grounds for our Brittanys. There are two ponds, a creek and plenty of natural pheasants and quail to challenge the Brits. Large play yards, the ranch house and the fields are all part of the Brittanys' day. We currently have 5 Brits - 2 boys and 3 girls - ranging in age from 6 1/2 to 13 years. We welcome visits to the kennels by appointment. The RJ Kennels - Joyce and Robert Wire - have been designated BREEDERS OF MERIT by the American Kennel Club (AKC). Robert is a recently retired West Coast Director of the American Brittany Club and an AKC Judge for field trials, hunt tests and conformation shows. Joyce manages the Brittanys' performance calendars and the breeding program. We offer stud service to approved bitches only, with chilled or frozen semen available as well as natural breedings here at the Kennels. You are invited to refer to the following pages for more information about our Brittanys. PHOTO AT LEFT - SASSY training at Pierre Urrutia's.

ABOUT THE BREED
The Brittany is a medium sized, upland game bird pointing dog that stands between 17 1/2 and 20 1/2 inches at the shoulder and weighs 30 to 40 pounds when fully grown. A true sporting dog, the Brittany is biddable and adaptable, making it an ideal companion as well as hunter. The Brittany is energetic, athletic, intelligent and affectionate. We find the Brittany to be easily and quickly trained using positive reinforcement, especially when generous amounts of exercise and socializing are provided. A bored Brittany is a naughty Brittany!!! (photo above- New Champion RJ'S RIGHT ON CUE)

VERSATILITY
The Brittany is a versatile dog! Here at R J Kennels,we breed for structural soundness, temperament and hunting instincts. The Brits' athleticism, adaptability and biddability make them great candidates for everything from Therapy Dogs to Obedience, Agility, NASTRA, Lure Coursing, Tracking competitions as well as Conformation Show, Field Trial and Hunt Testing events. With plenty of exercise and challenges, they also make great "hearth dogs" and they are pretty good ball players, too! Congrats to Ann Harris and her boys. Lots of good hunting news from the R J Brits out in the fields. Good going gang! NON-BRITTANY NEWS: As part of the support group for the NATIONAL DISASTER SEARCH DOG FOUNDATION, we are proud to welcome into our lives MERLIN. He is a member of the SDF Class of 2015 and we will serve as his Guardians during his intense training at the National facility in Santa Paula, California, and during his years of deployments. DAWSON, who we were Guardians for during past years, has retired after service during 9/11, Katrina, and in Haiti. Both Merlin and Dawson were "rescued" themselves from shelters before being identified and brought into this amazing program that trains the dogs to work beside their humans in serious rescue situations.

TWO LITTLE PUPPIES
STUD SERVICE, PUPPY, ADULT AVAILABILITY
As noted in the first paragraph above, we offer stud service to approved bitches. Live cover and AI are available. To all those on our Puppy Waiting List for 2016 - Due to human family health issues, we have made the difficult decision not to go forward with the R J breeding program. This is something we have loved doing for so many, many years. It will be poignant not to welcome Brittany Puppies in the spring! At this time we have no adults available. Thank you for your interest in our Brittanys.
